We had a model today, as usual beginning with some warm-up 15 second poses. I picked out a pastel this time, working in colour was nice for no other reason than it was colourful, but the pastel cannot be manipulated as fluidly as charcoal for more tonal drawings so I switched back later in the session. Something we haven't done before is switchinging between our dominant and non dominant hand between sketches, this really forced me to concentrate on what I was looking at and really made me think about my lines. Whats cool though is that I can't tell which sketches were with my left versus my right hand :)

Following that we moved onto tonal drawings, working with the flat side of the charcoal and an eraser to build shadow and carve away light.
