Narrative work is something we are now exploring in drawing for games, and the goal is to concept a short piece of narrative work. It can be about anything, in any style, and it just exists to tell a short piece of story.


I wanted to start this with a story, as opposed to creating something and then attaching story to it, so I began by looking through my notes for Cool Things I had written myself or copied down.


The one I felt like I resonated the most with was one I wrote myself:

"search the deep forests where the shadows flow like water and the sky is an endless abyss


look through the green and the gloom 'til the rivers reach lungs and all that you know is the sea.


there, that is where you will find me"



When I was writing this I was imagining a forest that just gets deeper the further you get in, the deeper it gets. The height of the trees stays the same but the land slopes further and further down. When you look up at the treetops you cant see the sky, yet something up there blinks like false stars...
